Purpose of use

Many individuals with PAIS are unaware that it is possible for them to virilize to some degree when given supraphysiological doses of testosterone. This image helps grade 3 PAIS patients make medical decisions (e.g. androgen therapy) by clearly illustrating the potential outcome of this treatment.

Replaceable?

PAIS is a very rare disorder, affecting approximately 1 in 100,000 births. This image is particularly rare as it documents the effects of androgen therapy on an individual with pais, and thus, it is very unlikely that it can be replaced. It is also worthy to note that this subject is sensitive, and calls for medical quality photography.
