Anethol
(an' -eth-ol) \anethum; oleum, oil], C 10 - H 12 0. The chief constituent of the essen- tial oils of anise and fennel. It is employed in preparing the elixir anethi (N. F.), being more fragrant and agreeable than the anise oil. A., Liquid, an isomeric modification of anethol; it is an antiseptic, oil-like liquid.
