(gli' -ko-kol) [glyco-; noXXa, glue], C 2 H 5 N0 2 . It is obtained when glyco- cholic acid is boiled with caustic potash, baryta-water, or with dilute mineral acids; also by boiling gelatin with dilute acids. It is capable of acting as a base and as an acid. Syn., Amidoacetic acid; Gelatin-sugar; Glycin.
