An honor (honor is defined as high respect or great esteem) is a type of recognition where someone is officially recognized and respected for their accomplishments. On the contrary, an award is a prize someone receives for something special they have achieved - for example, receiving a noble prize is an award. Being a chief guest of an event is an honor. Also used in the context of honor student - to represent a student recognized for high achievement in their academics.
