- Locust is a city located in the heart of Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Charlotte Metropolitan Area and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the county. - The city of Locust was originally known as the "Crossroads". The name was changed to Locust due to the vast number of Locust trees in the area. The city was officially incorporated in 1869.

- Locust is located in the western part of Stanly County. It is approximately 26 miles east of Charlotte and 20 miles west of Albemarle.
