Low carb meringues
Low Carb Meringues[edit | edit source]
Low carb meringues are a delicious and healthy dessert option for those following a keto diet. They are light, airy, and sweet, making them the perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 4 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup erythritol
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions[edit | edit source]
- Preheat your oven to 225 degrees F (105 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until they become frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the erythritol, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites.
- Once all the erythritol has been added, beat in the vanilla extract.
- Continue to beat the mixture until stiff peaks form.
- Spoon the meringue mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small mounds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the meringues are crisp and dry.
- Turn off the oven and leave the meringues in the oven for another hour to dry out further.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.
