Body piercing is one type of body modification where an item, such as jewelry is worn by piercing the body - examples include ear ring, nose ring, umbilicus piercing etc.

Loud and sharp; having or emitting a high-pitched and sharp tone or tones; suitable for cutting or piercing; as physically painful as if caused by a sharp instrument; having or demonstrating ability to recognize or draw fine distinctions.
