Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College

Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Government Medical College (SRTR GMC) is a state medical institution located in Ambajogai, Beed district, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1975, it is the first rural medical college in Asia. The college is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various medical disciplines. The first batch of students was admitted in 1975 and graduated in 1979. Postgraduate courses were introduced in 1981, and today, almost all disciplines offer recognized postgraduate programs.

The college has several departments, including Anatomy, Anesthesiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Microbiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Social and Preventive Medicine, Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, and Dermatology.

In terms of infrastructure, the college underwent significant developments in the early 2000s. A new college building was completed in 2008, providing space for the dean's office and pre- and para-clinical departments. A residents hostel with 124 rooms was also constructed in 2009. The hospital building was expanded in 2007 to accommodate Pediatrics, the Intensive Care Unit, and Medicine. Additionally, a new surgical unit with 230 beds was completed.

Notable alumni of SRTR GMC include Dr. Madhavrao Kinhalkar.
