Calf is a group of muscles that looks like a bulge at the back of the leg consisting mostly of the gastrocnemius muscle, and soleus muscle.

Muscle insertions[edit | edit source]

These muscles both insert into the calcaneus, the bone of the heel of the human foot. These muscles form the major part of the muscle of the posterior leg, commonly known as the calf muscle.
