Barry Schuler

Barry Schuler is an American entrepreneur, technologist, and venture capitalist. He is best known for his role as the former Chairman and CEO of America Online (AOL). Schuler has been influential in the development of the internet and digital media industries.

Barry Schuler was born in New York City. He attended Rutgers University, where he studied psychology. Schuler's early interest in technology and media led him to pursue a career in these fields.

Schuler began his career in the technology sector by founding several companies. One of his early ventures was Medior Inc., a multimedia design firm that was acquired by America Online in 1995.

America Online[edit | edit source]

After the acquisition of Medior Inc., Schuler joined AOL and quickly rose through the ranks. He played a significant role in the development of AOL's user interface and multimedia capabilities. In 2001, Schuler was appointed Chairman and CEO of AOL. During his tenure, he oversaw the company's merger with Time Warner, which was one of the largest mergers in corporate history.

After leaving AOL, Schuler transitioned into venture capital. He became a partner at DFJ Growth, a venture capital firm that invests in technology companies. Schuler has been involved in funding and advising numerous successful startups in the technology and digital media sectors.

Barry Schuler is married and has children. He is also known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in the areas of education and technology.
