Delaware County, Pennsylvania

Delaware County, Pennsylvania is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 576,830, making it the fifth-most populous county in Pennsylvania. The county seat is Media.

Delaware County was created on September 26, 1789, from part of Chester County. It was named after the Delaware River, which forms its eastern border. The county has a rich history, including significant involvement in the American Revolutionary War and the Industrial Revolution.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Delaware County is bordered by Philadelphia County to the northeast, Montgomery County to the north, Chester County to the west, and the state of Delaware to the south. The county has a total area of 191 square miles, of which 184 square miles is land and 6.8 square miles is water.
