Dignitas
Dignitas is a Swiss non-profit member's society providing assisted/accompanied suicide to those members of the organization who suffer from terminal illness and/or severe physical and/or mental illnesses, supported by qualified Swiss doctors independent of the organization. The organization is located in Forch, close to Zürich.

Dignitas was founded on 17 May 1998 by Ludwig A. Minelli, a human rights lawyer. Since its inception, Dignitas has assisted over 2,100 people to end their own lives.
Procedure[edit | edit source]
The procedure of assisted suicide provided by Dignitas is strictly regulated. The person wishing to die has to be a member of Dignitas, they need to submit a formal request including a letter explaining their wish to die and most importantly, they need to be of sound judgement, furthermore, they need to submit a medical history and a prescription for the drug causing death.
Controversies[edit | edit source]
Dignitas has been subject to controversy due to its advocacy and practice of euthanasia.
