It is believed that the use of this image in the article about the Priestley Medal is allowable under the fair use clause of United States copyright law for the following reasons:
- It is a relatively low resolution image of the medal to illustrate the appearance of the Priestley Medal itself, used in a non-commercial educational article about the Priestley Medal.
