This image, Unearthlychild.jpg, is being linked here; though the image is copyright © to the BBC, I (Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 00:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)) feel that it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

1. it is a low-resolution screenshot from the Doctor Who episode "An Unearthly Child";
2. it is being used for identification and critical commentary on the episode, its role in the history of the programme, and the introduction of the character of the Doctor;
3. no more free alternative exists or can exist;
4. the use of the image in this article will in no way infringe on the BBC's copyright, or ability to market the programme or ancillary works.

This image is a screenshot of a copyrighted television program. As such, the copyright for it is most likely owned by the company or corporation that produced it. It is believed that the use of a limited number of low-resolution screenshots for identification of and critical commentary on the television program and its contents on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, qualifies as fair use under the Copyright law of the United States.
