Pages in this category should be moved to subcategories where applicable. This category may require frequent maintenance to avoid becoming too large. It should directly contain very few, if any, pages and should mainly contain subcategories.

The village categories for some countries are combined with categories for other types of settlement because no official distinction is made locally. See also Category:Populated places by country. Note that a country which does not have its own "villages" category should not have its "villages" filed directly here as a substitute.
