Image title	A U.S. Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules from the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, sprays Dibrom, a pesticide approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, over New Orleans, La., September 13, 2005. In coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Centers for Disease Control, the C-130 crew plans to spray the area of New Orleans first, then work other affected Gulf Coast areas as required. The insects which will be targeted are primarily mosquitos and filth flies which are capable of transmitting diseases such as Malaria, West Nile Virus, and various types of Encephalitis. "Dibrom is virtually non-toxic to humans, while eliminating a majority of the flying mosquito population," says Dr. (Capt.) Karl Haagsma, a research entomologist with the 910th Airlift Wing. The 910th Airlift Wing is the only unit in the Department of Defense that is tasked to maintain a full-time, fixed wing aerial spray capability.
