Calcium/cholecalciferol is a combination medication used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who do not get enough calcium from their diets. It may be used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (hypoparathyroidism), and a certain muscle disease (latent tetany).

Calcium/cholecalciferol is composed of two key ingredients: Calcium and Cholecalciferol (also known as Vitamin D3).

  • Calcium is a mineral that is necessary for many functions of the body, especially bone formation and maintenance.
  • Cholecalciferol is a form of vitamin D that is used to treat and prevent vitamin D deficiency.

Calcium/cholecalciferol is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels. It is used in certain patients to make sure they are getting enough calcium. This includes people who have osteoporosis, osteomalacia, or a specific muscle disease called latent tetany. It is also used in people who are at risk for calcium deficiency because they are not getting enough in their diet.
