- Originally launched in 1850.
- In 1911, a significant reform was initiated by merging the Medical Department of the University of Tennessee with the University of Nashville Medical Department. This integration also witnessed the absorption of the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
- 1913 saw another merger with Memphis Hospital Medical College.
- By 1914, the University of Tennessee College of Medicine amalgamated with the Lincoln Memorial University Medical Department, further consolidating its stature in the realm of medical education.
