• For the purposes of this category, "Malesia" is defined in accordance with the World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions (WGSRPD); that is, defined as a region within the botanical continent of Asia-Tropical including the following areas, typically circumscribed by the political boundaries of its constituents:
  • Borneo
  • Christmas Island
  • Cocos (Keeling) Islands
  • Java (Jawa)
  • Lesser Sunda Islands
  • Malaya
  • Maluku Islands
  • Philippines
  • Sulawesi
  • Sumatra (Sumatera)

It excludes "Papuasia" as defined by the WGSRPD. It is included within the larger geographic region of tropical Asia.

• Taxa are included at region level if widely found in the region.
