Main:AWB
Project:AWB or AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated MediaWiki editing tool designed to make tedious or repetitive editing tasks quicker and easier. It is essentially a browser that automatically opens up a new page when the last is saved. When set to do so, it suggests some changes (typically formatting) that are generally meant to be incidental to the main change.
Overview[edit source]
AutoWikiBrowser is a Microsoft .NET application and it is used in conjunction with a text file to present the user with many articles one after another. The user can then make any changes to the article that are necessary. It is intended to automate tedious and repetitive tasks, such as fixing links to disambiguation pages or other common spelling and grammatical errors.
Features[edit source]
AutoWikiBrowser has a number of features that aid in the editing and maintenance of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. These include:
- Find and Replace: This feature allows users to search for specific text and replace it with other text. This is useful for correcting common spelling or grammatical errors.
- Skip: This feature allows users to skip over certain articles that do not need editing.
- Save: This feature allows users to save their changes to the article.
- Preview: This feature allows users to preview their changes before saving them.
Usage[edit source]
AutoWikiBrowser is used by many Wikipedia editors to automate the process of making repetitive edits to articles. It is particularly useful for tasks such as fixing links to disambiguation pages, correcting common spelling and grammatical errors, and standardizing the formatting of articles.
