Schoolcraft is a term that can refer to several entities in the United States, all of which are named after Henry Schoolcraft, a geographer, geologist, and ethnologist known for his studies of Native American cultures.

Henry Schoolcraft[edit | edit source]

Henry Schoolcraft (1793–1864) was an American geographer, geologist, and ethnologist, noted for his early studies of Native American cultures, as well as for his 1832 discovery of the source of the Mississippi River. His extensive research and writings on Native American languages and customs had a significant influence on the understanding and interpretation of Native American cultures.

Schoolcraft County[edit | edit source]

Schoolcraft County is located in the Upper Peninsula of the state of Michigan. It was named after Henry Schoolcraft, who explored the area with the expedition of Lewis Cass. The county was founded in 1843 and as of the 2010 census, the population was 8,485. The county seat is Manistique, which is also the county's largest city.

Schoolcraft Township is a civil township in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,698 at the 2010 census. The village of Schoolcraft is located within the township.

Schoolcraft, Michigan is a village in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. The village is located in Schoolcraft Township approximately 13 miles south of Kalamazoo on U.S. Route 131. The population was 1,525 at the 2010 census.

Schoolcraft College[edit | edit source]

Schoolcraft College is a public community college in Livonia, Michigan. It offers a variety of programs and degrees, including certificate programs, associate degrees, and a bachelor's degree program. The college was named after Henry Schoolcraft.
