Economic Development
Economic development is the process by which a nation improves the economic, political, and social well-being of its people. The term has been used frequently in the 20th and 21st centuries, but the concept has existed in the West for centuries. Modernization, Westernization, and especially Industrialization are other terms people have used while discussing economic development. Economic development has a direct relationship with the environment and environmental issues.

Economic development is a policy intervention endeavor with aims of economic and social well-being of people. It involves the proper use of resources for sustainable growth and development. Economic development differs from economic growth. While economic growth refers to the increase in the quantitative output of goods and services, economic development implies an improvement in the quality of life and living standards, i.e., the increase in the qualitative component of the economy.

Strategies for economic development often involve improvements in a variety of areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and workforce development. These strategies can be specific to a particular region depending on its unique socio-economic and political context.
