Genista tinctoria, commonly known as Indigo Broom or dyer's greenweed, is a perennial shrub in the family Fabaceae. It is native to meadows and pastures in Europe and Western Asia. The plant is known for its bright yellow flowers and its use in dyeing. The plant's common name, "Indigo Broom," comes from its use in producing a yellow dye, which was traditionally used in combination with woad (Isatis tinctoria) to produce a green color.

Amorpha fruticosa[edit | edit source]

Amorpha fruticosa, also known as Indigo Broom or desert false indigo, is a species of flowering plant in the pea family, Fabaceae. It is native to North America, from southern Canada to northern Mexico. The plant is a deciduous shrub growing to 5 m tall. The leaves are pinnate, with 13-25 leaflets. The flowers are produced in dense racemes, each flower with a single purple petal.
