List of cities in Tennessee
List of Cities in Tennessee is a comprehensive catalog of the municipalities in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Tennessee is divided into 95 counties, and contains 346 municipalities consisting of cities and towns. The state's municipalities cover only 9.3% of the state's land mass but are home to 59.5% of its population.
Classification[edit | edit source]
In Tennessee, municipalities are classified as either "cities" or "towns". As of the 2010 census, 6 municipalities are designated as cities, while 340 are designated as towns. The difference between a city and a town in Tennessee is based on the form of government. Cities use the mayor-council form of government, while towns use the town meeting form of government.
