O-Anisic acid, also known as 2-Methoxybenzoic acid or ortho-anisic acid, is an organic compound with the formula CH3OC6H4CO2H. It is one of the isomers of anisic acid, the others being p-anisic acid and m-anisic acid, which differ in the position of the methoxy group on the benzene ring. O-Anisic acid is a white, crystalline solid that is slightly soluble in water but more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether.

O-Anisic acid can be synthesized through several methods, including the esterification of guaiacol with carbon dioxide in the presence of a base, or by the oxidation of o-anisaldehyde. Another common method involves the nitration of anisole to produce o-nitroanisole, which is subsequently reduced to o-anisidine and then oxidized to yield o-anisic acid.
