Political refers to the set of activities associated with the governance of a country, state or area. It involves making decisions that apply to members of a group and includes the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, and political behavior. It is often associated with the pursuit of power, with the distribution of power and resources being a central issue.

Political is derived from the Greek word politikos, meaning "of, for, or relating to citizens". It is the practice and theory of influencing other people on a global, civic or individual level. More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance — organized control over a human community, particularly a state.

Political Systems[edit | edit source]

Political systems are the means by which a society organizes itself and allocates authority in order to accomplish collective goals and provide benefits that the society as a whole needs. These systems are often identified by the type of government they have. For example, democracies, monarchies, and authoritarian and totalitarian regimes.

Political Ideologies[edit | edit source]

Political ideologies are the moral and ethical beliefs that influence an individual's, a society's, or a government's decisions. These ideologies can range from liberalism, conservatism, socialism, and anarchism, among others.

Political Parties[edit | edit source]

Political parties are organized groups of people who share similar political views and work together to influence government policy and elections. They are essential for the functioning of democratic societies.

Political Science[edit | edit source]

Political science is the study of politics and power from domestic, international, and comparative perspectives. It involves understanding political ideas, ideologies, institutions, policies, processes, and behavior, as well as groups, classes, government, diplomacy, law, strategy, and war.
