SEGA is a multinational video game developer, publisher, and hardware development company. SEGA is known for its multi-million selling game franchises, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter, Phantasy Star, Yakuza, and Total War.

SEGA was founded by Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart as Nihon Goraku Bussan on June 3, 1960; shortly after, they acquired Rosen Enterprises to become SEGA Enterprises, Ltd. The name SEGA is a portmanteau of the first two letters of the words "Service Games".

SEGA's main business is the development, publishing, and distribution of arcade and home video games, along with various entertainment-related products. They also have a history of hardware development, including the SEGA Genesis, SEGA Saturn, and Dreamcast consoles.
