Unclassified

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Unclassified refers to information or material that does not warrant any level of security classification or the designation of which has yet to be determined.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Unclassified information can be further divided into Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) and Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU). These categories are used to control access to information that may not be classified but is still considered sensitive.

Controlled Unclassified Information[edit | edit source]

Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is a category of unclassified categories in the United States federal government that is subject to access and disclosure restrictions. CUI replaces categories such as For Official Use Only (FOUO), Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU), and Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES).

Law Enforcement Sensitive[edit | edit source]

Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) is a type of unclassified information that is generally not available to the public because it could interfere with law enforcement efforts if released.

Sensitive But Unclassified[edit | edit source]

Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) is a designation of information in the federal government that, while not classified, is sensitive in nature and not available for public release.
