2C-C-NBOMe
2C-C-NBOMe is a psychedelic drug that belongs to the NBOMe series of substances. It is closely related to both the 2C family of phenethylamines and the larger group of substances known as psychedelics. 2C-C-NBOMe is known for its potent psychoactive effects, which include visual and auditory hallucinations, altered states of consciousness, and profound changes in thought, mood, and perception. Due to its high potency, it is often found on blotter paper similar to LSD and is sometimes misrepresented as LSD, which can lead to dangerous overdoses.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
2C-C-NBOMe, chemically known as 2-([2-(4-chloro-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethylamino]methyl)phenyl-N-[(2-methoxyphenyl)methyl]ethanamine, is a derivative of the phenethylamine psychedelic 2C-C. It is part of the NBOMe series, which are known for their potent agonist activity at the 5-HT2A receptor. The addition of the N-(2-methoxybenzyl) group to the amine increases the affinity for the 5-HT2A receptor significantly, making 2C-C-NBOMe much more potent than its parent compound.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
The primary mechanism of action of 2C-C-NBOMe involves its function as a highly potent agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor. This receptor is a subtype of the serotonin receptor which plays a key role in regulating mood, anxiety, and perception. Activation of the 5-HT2A receptor is responsible for the psychedelic effects of 2C-C-NBOMe. Due to its potency and efficacy at this receptor, 2C-C-NBOMe can produce profound psychedelic effects at very low doses.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of 2C-C-NBOMe can vary greatly depending on the dose, individual physiology, and environmental factors. Common effects include intense visual and auditory hallucinations, enhanced emotional experiences, altered perception of time and space, and profound changes in thought and mood. However, due to its potency, there is a high risk of negative effects, including confusion, panic attacks, dangerous increases in heart rate and blood pressure, and severe agitation. There have been reports of accidents, injuries, and fatalities associated with the use of 2C-C-NBOMe, often due to its misrepresentation as LSD or other less potent psychedelics.
Legality[edit | edit source]
The legal status of 2C-C-NBOMe varies by country, but it has been banned or controlled in many jurisdictions due to concerns over its safety and potential for abuse. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance under analog acts or specific legislation targeting the NBOMe series.
Safety[edit | edit source]
Due to its high potency and the risk of overdose, extreme caution is advised when handling or consuming 2C-C-NBOMe. The difference between an active dose and a potentially harmful dose can be very small, making accurate dosing difficult. There have been multiple reports of hospitalizations and deaths attributed to the use of 2C-C-NBOMe, highlighting the importance of awareness and harm reduction practices when dealing with this substance.
