7-Eleven is a popular convenience store chain that operates in more than 20 countries around the world. The chain is known for its 24-hour operation and wide selection of convenience items, such as snacks, drinks, and personal care products.

History[edit | edit source]

  • 7-Eleven was founded in 1927 in Dallas, Texas, by Joe C. Thompson, Jr. The company originally operated under the name Tote'm Stores, and sold ice, milk, and eggs.
  • In 1946, Tote'm Stores changed its name to 7-Eleven, reflecting the store's new hours of operation, which were from 7am to 11pm. In 1963, the company began operating 24 hours a day, a move that helped to establish 7-Eleven as a popular destination for late-night shoppers.
  • 7-Eleven expanded rapidly in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s, and began to open stores in other countries in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, 7-Eleven is one of the largest convenience store chains in the world, with more than 70,000 stores in over 20 countries.

Products and Services[edit | edit source]

  • 7-Eleven offers a wide range of convenience products and services, including snacks, beverages, cigarettes, lottery tickets, and personal care items. Many 7-Eleven stores also sell hot food items, such as pizza, hot dogs, and sandwiches.
  • In addition to its retail offerings, 7-Eleven also operates a number of financial services, including ATM machines, money orders, and bill payment services. Some 7-Eleven stores also offer services such as car rental and parcel delivery.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

  • In recent years, 7-Eleven has made efforts to improve its sustainability practices. The company has set a goal to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, and has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce energy consumption and waste.
  • 7-Eleven has also introduced a range of sustainable products, including reusable coffee cups and water bottles, and has implemented recycling programs in many of its stores.
