- AIDS Project Los Angeles
AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Founded in 1983, APLA has been at the forefront of providing critical services, advocacy, and education to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Los Angeles and beyond.
History[edit | edit source]
APLA was established in response to the growing HIV/AIDS crisis in the early 1980s. At a time when little was known about the disease and stigma was rampant, a group of concerned individuals came together to form an organization that would provide support and resources to those affected by HIV/AIDS. The founders included Nancy Cole Sawaya, Max Drew, Matt Redman, and Ira Reiss.
