AXA1125
AXA1125 is a proprietary blend of amino acids and other nutrients developed by Axcella Health Inc. for the treatment of Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and other liver diseases. It is currently in the clinical trial phase.
Overview[edit | edit source]
AXA1125 is a novel, non-biologic synthetic biology product candidate that is designed to target multiple metabolic pathways in the liver. It is composed of a proprietary blend of eight essential and non-essential amino acids and other nutrients. The product is designed to improve liver health and function by reducing lipotoxicity, inflammation, and fibrosis.
Clinical Trials[edit | edit source]
AXA1125 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2b clinical trial for the treatment of NASH. The trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study that aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AXA1125 in adults with NASH.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
AXA1125 works by targeting multiple metabolic pathways in the liver. It is believed to reduce lipotoxicity, inflammation, and fibrosis by modulating the production and metabolism of certain amino acids and other nutrients. This, in turn, may help to improve liver health and function.
Potential Applications[edit | edit source]
In addition to NASH, AXA1125 may also have potential applications in the treatment of other liver diseases, such as Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and Hepatitis C. However, further research is needed to confirm these potential applications.
