Created by Walcyr Carrasco, the show is a mix of drama, romance, and betrayal, set against the backdrop of the baking industry in São Paulo. It follows the story of Maria da Paz, a talented baker who rises from poverty to become a wealthy businesswoman, only to discover that her own daughter is plotting against her.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The narrative begins in the 1990s in the fictional town of Rio Vermelho, where two families, the Ramires and the Matheus, are embroiled in a generations-long feud. However, on their wedding day, Amadeu is shot and presumed dead, leading Maria to flee to São Paulo with her family.
Years later, Maria da Paz has built a successful chain of bakeries, "Bolos da Paz." Unbeknownst to her, Amadeu is alive, and they both have a daughter, Josiane (Jô), who despises her mother's humble origins and is determined to seize her wealth by any means necessary.
