Addis Ababa University
Addis Ababa University (AAU) is a public university located in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Established in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa, it initially began with an agreement between the Ethiopian government and the Canadian Jesuits. It is the oldest and the largest higher education institution in Ethiopia. Over the years, AAU has grown to comprise several colleges, institutes, and schools offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines.

The university was founded in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa through a collaboration between the Ethiopian government and the Canadian Jesuits. It was later renamed Haile Selassie I University in 1962 after the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I, who was a significant benefactor of the institution. In 1975, following a change in government, the university was given its current name, Addis Ababa University.

Addis Ababa University has several campuses spread across Addis Ababa and its surroundings. The main campus, known as Sidist Kilo, is located in the heart of Addis Ababa. It houses the administrative offices, the College of Social Sciences, the College of Natural Sciences, and the College of Humanities, Language Studies, Journalism, and Communication. Other notable campuses include the Arat Kilo campus, which hosts the College of Law and Governance Studies, and the College of Business and Economics; and the Technology Campus, which is home to the Institute of Technology.
