Adelphi Whisky
Adelphi Whisky is a renowned independent bottler of Scotch whisky, based in Scotland. The company is named after the Adelphi Distillery, which was located in Glasgow and operated from 1826 until its closure in 1902. Today, Adelphi Whisky is known for its selection of rare and limited edition single malt and single cask whiskies.
History[edit | edit source]
The original Adelphi Distillery was founded in 1826 by Charles and David Gray in the heart of Glasgow. The distillery was named after the Greek word 'Adelphi', which translates to 'brothers', signifying the partnership between the Gray brothers. The distillery was known for its production of single malt whisky until it ceased operations in 1902.
In 1993, the brand was revived by Jamie Walker, the great-grandson of Archibald Walker, the last owner of the original Adelphi Distillery. Jamie Walker established the Adelphi Whisky company as an independent bottler, sourcing whiskies from various distilleries across Scotland.
Selection Process[edit | edit source]
Adelphi Whisky is renowned for its rigorous selection process. The company selects less than 1% of the casks it samples for bottling, ensuring that only the highest quality whiskies are chosen. Each cask is chosen for its individual quality and character, and the whiskies are bottled at natural strength, colour and without chill filtration.
Products[edit | edit source]
Adelphi Whisky offers a range of products, including single cask whiskies, blended malt whiskies, and limited edition releases. Some of their notable products include the Adelphi Selection, a range of single cask whiskies, and the Adelphi Fascadale, a series of limited edition releases.
Adelphi Ardnamurchan Distillery[edit | edit source]
In 2014, Adelphi opened the Ardnamurchan Distillery in the Western Highlands of Scotland. This distillery is committed to traditional methods of whisky production and is powered by local, renewable resources.
