Aegir

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Aegir can refer to several different concepts in mythology, software, and other fields. Below are the primary uses of the term:

Mythology[edit | edit source]

Aegir is a figure in Norse mythology, known as the god of the sea. He is often depicted as a giant and is associated with the ocean, brewing, and hospitality. Aegir is married to the goddess Ran, and together they have nine daughters, who personify the waves. Aegir's hall is a place where gods and goddesses gather for feasts.

Software[edit | edit source]

Aegir (software) is an open-source hosting system for deploying and managing large networks of Drupal and WordPress sites. It provides a web-based interface and command-line tools to automate tasks such as site creation, migration, and updates. Aegir is built on top of Drush, a command-line shell and scripting interface for Drupal.

Astronomy[edit | edit source]

Aegir (moon) is one of the moons of the planet Saturn. It was discovered in 2004 and is part of the Norse group of Saturn's moons. Aegir is irregularly shaped and has a retrograde orbit, meaning it orbits Saturn in the opposite direction of the planet's rotation.
