Ahnapee Brewery
Ahnapee Brewery is a historic brewery located in Algoma, Wisconsin. Established in 1868, it has a rich history of brewing traditional and innovative beers. The brewery is known for its commitment to quality and its role in the local community.
History[edit | edit source]
Ahnapee Brewery was founded by Charles D. Stang, a German immigrant who brought his brewing expertise to the small town of Ahnapee, which was later renamed Algoma. The brewery quickly became a central part of the community, providing a social gathering place and contributing to the local economy.
During its early years, Ahnapee Brewery produced a variety of beers, including lagers and ales, which were popular among the local population. The brewery's success continued until the onset of Prohibition in 1920, which forced many breweries, including Ahnapee, to cease operations.
Revival[edit | edit source]
In 2013, Ahnapee Brewery was revived by a group of local entrepreneurs who sought to bring back the historic brewery's legacy. The new Ahnapee Brewery continues to honor its roots by producing high-quality craft beers using traditional brewing methods and local ingredients.
Beers[edit | edit source]
Ahnapee Brewery offers a diverse range of beers, including:
- Little Soldier - A classic American pale ale named after the founder's nickname.
- Two Stall - A robust porter with rich chocolate and coffee notes.
- Cherry Mechanic - A fruit beer made with locally sourced cherries.
Community Involvement[edit | edit source]
Ahnapee Brewery is deeply involved in the Algoma community. The brewery hosts various events, including beer tastings, brewery tours, and local festivals. It also collaborates with local businesses and organizations to support community initiatives.
