Akiak
Akiak is a city located in the Bethel Census Area, in the state of Alaska, United States. The city is situated on the west bank of the Kuskokwim River, approximately 42 miles northeast of Bethel. Akiak is a traditional Yup'ik Eskimo village with a rich cultural heritage and history.

The name "Akiak" means "the other side" in the Yup'ik language. The area has been inhabited by the Yup'ik people for thousands of years. The village was established as a city in 1970. The residents of Akiak have traditionally relied on subsistence activities such as fishing, hunting, and gathering.

Akiak is located at coordinates 60°54′N 161°13′W. The city covers a total area of 4.2 square miles, of which 3.9 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles is water. The Kuskokwim River plays a significant role in the daily lives of the residents, providing a means of transportation and a source of food.

As of the 2020 census, the population of Akiak was 346. The majority of the population is of Yup'ik descent. The community is known for its strong cultural traditions and practices.
