Alakanuk is a city located in the Kusilvak Census Area in the state of Alaska, United States. The name "Alakanuk" is derived from an Yup'ik word meaning "wrong way" or "mistake," referring to the maze of waterways in the area.

. The city covers a total area of 105.2 square kilometers, of which 82.4 square kilometers is land and 22.8 square kilometers is water. The city is located on the Yukon River delta, which is characterized by numerous sloughs and channels.

As of the 2020 census, Alakanuk had a population of 725. The population density is auto-calculated based on the area and population. The majority of the residents are of Yup'ik descent, and the community maintains a strong cultural heritage.
