Alexandre Pliuschin (born January 13, 1987, in Chișinău, Moldavian SSR, Soviet Union) is a former professional road cyclist from Moldova. Throughout his career, Pliuschin competed for several top-tier UCI ProTour teams and was known for his abilities as a strong time trialist and a capable domestique.

Early Life and Amateur Career[edit | edit source]

Born in Chișinău, Pliuschin began cycling at a young age. His early career saw him competing in various amateur races across Europe, where he demonstrated significant potential as a young cyclist.

Professional Career[edit | edit source]

Pliuschin turned professional in 2006 with the AG2R La Mondiale team, where he spent two seasons. In 2008, he joined the Team Katusha, where he raced for three years. During his tenure with Katusha, he participated in several prominent races and helped his team in various stage races and one-day classics.

In 2011, Pliuschin moved to Team RadioShack, followed by a year with Leopard Trek in 2012, and finally IAM Cycling in 2013. Over his professional career, Pliuschin competed in multiple editions of the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España, as well as numerous other important races on the international calendar.

After retiring from professional cycling, Pliuschin has stayed connected to the sport, contributing to its development in Moldova and mentoring young cyclists.
