Allentown is a city located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is the third most populous city in Pennsylvania, after Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and is the largest city in the Lehigh Valley region. As of the 2020 census, Allentown had a population of approximately 125,845.

Allentown was founded in 1762 by William Allen, a wealthy shipping merchant and former mayor of Philadelphia. Originally named "Northampton Town," the city was renamed "Allentown" in 1838 in honor of its founder. The city played a significant role during the American Revolutionary War, serving as a hiding place for the Liberty Bell in 1777.

During the 19th century, Allentown experienced significant industrial growth, becoming a center for iron production and manufacturing.
