Amy Beth Schumer (born June 1, 1981) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and producer. She is known for her sharp wit, observational humor, and her ability to tackle controversial topics with a comedic twist. Schumer gained widespread recognition with her sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer, which premiered on Comedy Central in 2013.

Amy Schumer was born in Manhattan, New York City, to Sandra and Gordon Schumer. She grew up in a wealthy family, but her family faced financial difficulties when she was nine years old. Schumer attended South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York, and later graduated from Towson University with a degree in theater.

Stand-up Comedy[edit | edit source]
Schumer began her career in stand-up comedy in the early 2000s. She gained attention after appearing on the fifth season of the reality competition series Last Comic Standing in 2007, where she placed fourth. Her comedic style often includes self-deprecating humor and commentary on social issues, including gender and relationships.

In 2013, Schumer created, co-produced, and starred in the sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer. The show was critically acclaimed and won a Peabody Award in 2014. It also earned Schumer a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2015.
