History[edit | edit source]
The history of ancient China is typically divided into three periods: the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, and the Classical Age. Each of these periods was marked by distinct cultural and technological advancements.
Bronze Age[edit | edit source]
The Bronze Age in China is associated with the Shang Dynasty, the first dynasty to be described in historical records. The Shang Dynasty is known for its advanced bronze casting technology and the development of a complex social structure.
Iron Age[edit | edit source]
The Iron Age in China began with the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC). This period saw the introduction of iron technology and the development of Confucianism and Taoism, two philosophical systems that have greatly influenced Chinese culture.
Classical Age[edit | edit source]
The Classical Age, also known as the Imperial Era, began with the Qin Dynasty (221–206 BC) and continued through the Han Dynasty. This period was marked by the unification of China under a centralized government and significant advancements in literature, art, and science.
Society and Culture[edit | edit source]
Ancient Chinese society was highly structured, with a clear distinction between the nobility and the common people. The culture was heavily influenced by Confucianism, which emphasized respect for authority and social harmony.
