Andrea Marie Jenkyns (born 16 June 1969) is a British Conservative Party politician. She has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Morley and Outwood since the 2015 general election, defeating the incumbent Labour MP Ed Balls.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Jenkyns was born in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. She attended the University of Lincoln, where she studied Business Studies.
Career[edit | edit source]
Before entering politics, Jenkyns worked in the retail sector and later in education as a music tutor.
Political career[edit | edit source]
Jenkyns was elected as the MP for Morley and Outwood in 2015, defeating the then-Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls. She has been re-elected in subsequent elections, increasing her majority each time.
In September 2022, Jenkyns was appointed as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Skills, Further and Higher Education under Prime Minister Liz Truss. She served in this role until October 2022.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Jenkyns is married to fellow Conservative MP Jack Lopresti. The couple has one child.
