Angel hair

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Angel Hair is a type of pasta that is long, thin and cylindrical in shape. It is also known as capellini which translates to "little hair" in Italian. The name "angel hair" is used in the United States to describe this very thin variety of spaghetti.

History[edit | edit source]

The exact origin of angel hair pasta is unknown, but it is believed to have originated in Italy. The first known mention of angel hair pasta is in the 14th century in Italian cookbooks. It was traditionally made by hand, but today it is mostly machine-made.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

Angel hair pasta is often served with light, delicate sauces, such as pesto or a simple sauce of butter and Parmesan cheese. It can also be used in soups or salads. Due to its thinness, it cooks very quickly, usually in less than five minutes.

Nutritional Value[edit | edit source]

Like all pasta, angel hair is high in carbohydrates. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and protein. It is low in fat and sodium, making it a healthy choice for those watching their diet.

Varieties[edit | edit source]

There are several varieties of angel hair pasta available, including whole wheat, gluten-free, and those made with added vegetables for extra nutrition.
