Angela Ahrendts

Angela Ahrendts is an American businesswoman who was the Senior Vice President of Retail at Apple Inc. from 2014 to 2019, and was CEO of Burberry from 2006 to 2014.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Ahrendts was born and raised in New Palestine, Indiana, and earned a Merchandising and Marketing degree from Ball State University in 1981.

Ahrendts' early career included a decade at Donna Karan International, where she was President of the company from 1989 to 1996. She then joined Henri Bendel as Vice President of Corporate Merchandising and Design.

Burberry[edit | edit source]

In 2006, Ahrendts became CEO of British luxury fashion house Burberry, succeeding Rose Marie Bravo. During her tenure, she is credited with transforming Burberry into a global luxury brand and leading a period of outstanding global growth.

Apple Inc.[edit | edit source]

In 2014, Ahrendts left Burberry to join Apple Inc. as Senior Vice President of Retail. She oversaw strategy, real estate & development, and operations of Apple’s physical stores, online store, and contact centers. Ahrendts left Apple in April 2019.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Ahrendts is married to Gregg Couch, with whom she has three children. She is known for her leadership style, which emphasizes positive human connections, trust, and intuition.

Awards and recognition[edit | edit source]

Ahrendts has received numerous awards and recognitions for her leadership in business, including being named to Forbes' list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women, and the BBC's list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the UK.
