Aniru Conteh
Sierra Leonean physician and expert on Lassa fever
Aniru Sahib Sahib Conteh (1952 – 4 April 2004) was a prominent Sierra Leonean physician renowned for his work in combating Lassa fever, a viral hemorrhagic illness endemic to parts of West Africa. His contributions to the understanding and treatment of the disease have been instrumental in saving countless lives.

Aniru Conteh was born in 1952 in Sierra Leone, a country located on the west coast of Africa. He pursued his medical education at the University of Sierra Leone, where he developed a keen interest in infectious diseases, particularly those affecting his home country.

Conteh began his medical career at the Kenema Government Hospital, where he quickly became involved in the study and treatment of Lassa fever. His dedication to understanding this disease led him to become the director of the Lassa Fever Program at the hospital.

Under Conteh's leadership, the Lassa Fever Program at Kenema Government Hospital became a center of excellence for the treatment and research of Lassa fever.
