Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (1632–1723) was a ground-breaking Dutch scientist best known for his significant contributions to the field of microbiology. This earned him the title of "Father of Microbiology."

In addition to his observational skills, van Leeuwenhoek was a skilled lens grinder and craftsman. He created over 500 optical lenses, some of which achieved a magnification factor of 200x, an extraordinary feat for his time.
