Antonia Isola was the pseudonym of Mabel Earl McGinnis, an American author known for writing one of the first Italian cookbooks published in the United States. Her book, "Simple Italian Cookery," was published in 1912 and aimed to introduce American readers to authentic Italian cuisine.

Mabel Earl McGinnis was born in the late 19th century. Little is known about her early life and education. She adopted the pseudonym Antonia Isola, which translates to "Antonia Island" in Italian, to lend an air of authenticity to her work on Italian cuisine.

Simple Italian Cookery[edit | edit source]

"Simple Italian Cookery" was published in 1912 by Harper & Brothers. The book was one of the first to bring Italian recipes to an American audience. It included a variety of traditional Italian dishes, such as risotto, polenta, and gnocchi. The book was well-received and contributed to the growing popularity of Italian food in the United States.
