Ardnamurchan distillery
Ardnamurchan Distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery located in Ardnamurchan, Scotland. The distillery is owned by Adelphi Distillery Ltd, a company known for its independent bottling of rare single malt Scotch whisky. Ardnamurchan Distillery is the first fully operational distillery owned by Adelphi.
History[edit | edit source]
The Ardnamurchan Distillery was officially opened in July 2014, making it one of the newest distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is located on the picturesque Ardnamurchan peninsula, which is known for its rugged beauty and rich history. The distillery was built with the aim of producing high-quality single malt Scotch whisky using traditional methods.
Production[edit | edit source]
The distillery has a production capacity of 500,000 litres of alcohol per year. The whisky is made using locally sourced barley, which is malted at the distillery. The distillation process involves two copper pot stills, which are used to separate the alcohol from the fermented barley mash. The whisky is then aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years before it can be sold as Scotch whisky.
Products[edit | edit source]
The Ardnamurchan Distillery produces a range of single malt Scotch whiskies. The distillery's core range includes the Ardnamurchan AD single malt, which is a non-age-statement whisky matured in a combination of American and Spanish oak casks. The distillery also releases limited edition whiskies on a regular basis.
Tourism[edit | edit source]
The Ardnamurchan Distillery is open to the public for tours and tastings. The distillery's visitor centre offers a range of experiences, from basic tours to more in-depth tastings and masterclasses. The distillery also has a shop where visitors can purchase the distillery's whiskies and other merchandise.
